WMKV Saturday Morning Cartoons

WMKV Public Radio (89.3FM) offers radio for kids and families—ideal “us” time on a Saturday morning to exercise your imagination. The weekly half-hour program begins at 8am and will feature classic children’s tales from Let’s Pretend to Peter and the Wolf. The series will also feature poetry and stories from and by such artists as Maurice Sendak, Jackie Torrence, Shel Silverstein, Mark Binder, Rachel Sumner, and Victor Johnson.

WMKV Goes To The Pops

We all share in the celebrated history of the Cincinnati Pops Orchetsra, and WMKV has a veritable all star team to play superb music and add just the right amount of commentary to WMKV Goes To The Pops. Legendary broadcaster Bill Nimmo is joined by Tom Emmert and former Pops musician George Hambrecht for a stirring and thought-provoking program each week!

Wednesdays At 10 With Ken

Join veteran WMKV host Ken Luther and producer Tom Mason every Wednesday at 10am for some fantastic music and lively talk. It’s a fun trip through music and memories. Union Terminal Time

Cincinnati’s Union Terminal Building, now 75 years strong, is the home of Cincinnati Museum Center. Every week, WMKV partners with Cincinnati Museum Center to share events and happenings, including rare behind-the-scenes interviews, and delightful and poignant oral histories of the famed Union Terminal building. You’ll learn something new each week on Union terminal Time!

Theater Of The Mind

Travel back in time to the days when the radio airwaves were filled with the wit, laughs, mysteries and good cheer of hundreds of programs, many preserved on WMKV’s Theater of the Mind, weekdays 11:00 am until 12:00 noon. Laugh along with Jack Benny, sing harmony with Riders in the Sky and go sleuthing with the legendary Sherlock Holmes among others, Theater of the Mind is a daily ear treat for the imagination and it’s exclusively here on the Maple Knoll Network.

Mondays:
"Nightbeat" --Frank Lovejoy portrays an overnight reporter named Randy Stone who works for the fictional Chicago Star newspaper and often finds himself part of the human interest stories he covers.

"The Life of Riley" --Legendary family comedy starring William Bendix which inspired such later comedies like the "Honeymooners," "All In the Family" and other shows.

Tuesdays:
"Riders Radio Theater" --Broadcast from Cincinnati in the early 1990’s, cowboy band Riders In the Sky offer their homage to old time radio with skits, music and famous guest stars.

"The Jack Benny Program" --One of greatest comedy legends brings his cast of funny people to the microphone in this timeless classic radio program.

Wednesdays:
"Bold Venture" --Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall team up for a half hour of mystery and intrigue in a program set in tropical Havana.

"Burns and Allen" --George Burns and Gracie Allen bring their unique take on comedy to the airwaves in one of the great programs from radio’s "golden age."

Thursdays:
"The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" --Timeless tales of the master detective, Sherlock Holmes, as played by the actor most remembered for the role—Basil Rathbone—with Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson.

"Fibber McGee and Molly" --Fibber and Molly McGee live at 79 Wistful Vista and enjoy visits from a hilarious and sometimes bizarre cast of neighbors and friends in this classic comedy that gave new meaning to the term "wordplay."

Fridays:
"X-minus-1" --Science fiction comes to the radio in this classic 1950’s drama anthology featuring adaptations of some of the top writers of the day.

"The Great Gildersleeve" --One of radio’s first true situation comedies, actor Hal Peary portrays the blustery Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve in this radio classic.

The Dusty Rhodes Show Sunday Nights 9pm to Midnight!

“The Dusty Rhodes Show” returns to the radio airwaves Sunday night. Dusty’s excited to be renewing the Tri-State tradition of Sunday night oldies which began on WKRC in the ’70s, moved to WLW in the ’80s and then to WGRR-FM in the 90s until 2002. It’s one of the most ambitious audio projects ever, 6 hour highlights of every year from 1955 to 1969, plus specials as only Dusty can do them! Tune in to The Dusty Rhodes Show every Sunday night from 9 pm to Midnight on WMKV 89.3 fm, WLHS 89.9 fm, and online at www.wmkvfm.org.

Sundays With Sinatra

Join host Jim Milner as he traces the illustrious career of Frank Sinatra in this weekly program. Hear the great songs of Sinatra, some of his lesser known works and discover the story behind some of the music! Sundays at 5pm EST and Wednesday at 8pm on 89.3FM and on www.wmkvfm.org.
