Cincinnati Band Room

The Cincinnati Band Room features music played by marching bands, brass bands, concert bands, wind ensembles, small ensembles and more. Our bands are local, amateur, professional, military, high school and college. We play the music of Fillmore, Anderson, Sousa, Holst, Grainger, Reed and many, many others. As examples, you’ll hear The Stars & Stripes Forever, Bugler’s Holiday and Mars from The Planets. Jeffrey Evans opens the Cincinnati Band Room every week and has been playing band instruments in there for nearly 50 years. He studied music in college, was a school band director for several years and remains a very active band musician and conductor. If you have ever played a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument in school or community band or maybe you just enjoy an outdoor summer band concert at the town gazebo, you are always welcome in The Cincinnati Band Room.

Big Broadcast

In the words of veteran journalist and TV personality Nick Clooney, Big Broadcast is “an amalgam of comedy, music and drama that, in entertainment terms, blows away anything on radio!” Blending vintage radio comedy, drama and music into a weekly five-hour show, Big Broadcast is produced and hosted by the Peabody and Emmy award-winning team of Mark Magistrelli and Mike Martini, who provide insight, interviews and background on these timeless shows. In addition to regularly showcasing favorites such as Jack Benny, each week’s Big Broadcast devotes its second hour to a monthly theme. Whether it’s hearing legendary stars in shortlived shows (“Fabulous Failures”) or never-before-heard “backstage” rehearsal recordings of Gunsmoke or Orson Welles (“Behind the Microphone”), there’s always a surprise in store every week on Big Broadcast! Hour 1: The Great Gildersleeve You Bet Your Life with Groucho Marx Hour 2: Big Broadcast Special Hour 3: The Jack Benny Program The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show Hour 4: Richard Diamond, Private Detective The Bing Crosby Show Big Broadcast can be heard on Public Radio Station WMKV 89.3 FM in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturdays from 7 PM – 11 PM
