She entertained millions on The Bob Braun Show on WLWT TV and in Cincinnati at The Celestial and Michael G’s, and Mary Ellen Tanner brings her love of the Big Band Era and Jazz standards to WMKV. Mary Ellen’s program features her favorite artists, including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Rosemary Clooney. Mary Ellen had been singing in front of audiences since the age of three when her “stage father” – that’s right, “stage father” – nudged her into the “spotlight”, microphone in hand to begin her career. By age 12 she was singing with the Deke Moffitt Big Band. From 1970 – 73 she was a regular on The Nick Clooney Show before taking up the microphone on Bob Braun’s Show from 1978-84. And Mary Ellen was no stranger to radio, having co-hosted a program with Rob Reider on WMLX. We add our special thanks to our volunteer engineers who worked behind the scenes to make this exciting program possible; Tom Emmert, Ken Luther and Clyde Ankenbauer.
