HEAR WHAT YOU'VE BEEN MISSING
To listen to WMKV "live", you must have windows media player. Click on any of the windows media player buttons and this will take you to the download page. The download page will automatically determine your operating system (Windows 95, 98, XP, Vista, Mac, etc.) and show the download for your windows media player. Click the "download now" button and the download will automatically start and install. After the download and installation, restart your computer and return to our site. Click on any of the flashing "on-air" buttons and the player will start.
Important
All of the streaming audio links have changed... if you find a page that is loading an inactive streaming link, hold down your ctrl key and click your browsers refresh button. This will reload the correct page into your browsers cache.
Having trouble listening?
First, try taking your Media Player's "buffer" setting to a higher number:
- 1. Open your Windows Media Player.
- On the top menu bar, click on "Tools".
- Click on "Options" and a frame will open up giving you several choices.
- Click on the tab marked "Performance" and select connection speed and buffering time. Select your correct connection speed (56k, DSL, ISDN, etc.) from the drop-down menu, do not select the Windows default (This should help with any disconnect issue).
- Directly below you will see where you can set the buffering. Set that to 30 and see if this helps.
There have been issues regarding the media player showing the message "unable to connect" when WMKV's streaming link loads. If you get this message, re-install your windows media player or upgrade to the latest version. Several listeners have done so and it has alleviated the problem.
These recommendations will work if you have the latest media player, Media Player 11. If you do not have this version, click on the Media Player 11 button to the right. This will take you to the download page.
